The Corvallis Urban Chicken: It's not a legend

The number of chickens within city confines is increasing. Many college students and permanent residents alike are finding keeping chickens both fun and a good return on investment. The coop sells brown eggs at $5 a dozen so it doesn't take long to make your pets pay off.

According to http://thecitychicken.com, "Corvallis allows unlimited chickens. No roosters. Chickens must be penned." We can imagine why a rooster might be a bad idea, especially if you live next door to one and don't need to wake up at the crack of dawn.

Animal laws under the city website reads:

ANIMAL WASTE: No person will allow animal waste that causes offensive odor to others to accumulate on property owned or controlled by them.

Searching the Corvallis municipal code for chickens resulted in zero results.
